Our Story

Founded in July 2011, Bitter + Sweet was built to bring exceptional specialty coffee and desserts to the South Bay. After six years behind the counter, long-time barista Daniel took ownership, shaping the shop into a genuine extension of his own passions, craft, and quirks.

Bitter + Sweet isn't a sleek, sterile coffee chain. It’s an evolving, plant-filled sanctuary packed with rare flora, collectibles, resident pufferfish, and completed community puzzles proudly mounted on the walls. It’s warm, eclectic, a little edgy, and entirely unpretentious.

We take the craft seriously, serving expertly pulled espresso and pour-overs alongside house specialties that feature unique Asian flavor profiles like our Miso Latte, Red Bean Matcha, and Taro Matcha. We source beans from Sightglass Coffee and rotating guest roasters, paired with fresh pastries from The Midwife and the Baker, desserts by Sugar Butter Flour, and ice cream from Humphry Slocombe.

 

Come for the coffee, stay for the plants, and leave with a new obsession. We’re here for the real ones.
